Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you use Accounting Study Buddy, we collect only what's necessary to provide the service:

• •Device identifier — a randomly generated ID stored locally on your device. This links your plan and usage to your browser. It is not tied to your name, email, or any personal information.
• •Page content you choose to study — when you click Summarize, Teach Me, Lemonade, or Quiz, the text on the page (or your highlighted selection) is sent to our server for AI processing. This content is used only to generate your result and is not stored after processing.
• •Study action metadata — we record which feature you used (e.g., "summarize" or "quiz"), the page URL, and a short topic snippet. This helps us understand usage patterns and improve the product.
• •Payment information — if you upgrade to a paid plan, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number, CVV, or billing address.

What we do not collect

• ✕Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers (unless you provide them through Stripe during checkout)
• ✕Your browsing history or pages you visit but don't actively study
• ✕Cookies for advertising or tracking across websites
• ✕Any data from other extensions or browser tabs

We never sell your data

Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Period. The only external service that receives any of your information is our AI provider (for generating summaries and quizzes) and Stripe (for payment processing). Both are bound by their own strict privacy policies.

How extension data is handled

Your study history (topics, quiz scores, timestamps) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a feature that requires server processing. If you uninstall the extension, all local data is automatically deleted.

When you use a study feature (Summarize, Teach Me, Lemonade, Quiz), the relevant page content is sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection, processed by our AI, and the result is returned to you. The raw page content is not stored on our servers after processing.

Data retention

Study action metadata (feature used, URL, topic snippet) is retained on our servers to support your account and improve the service. If you'd like this data deleted, contact us and we'll remove it promptly. Local study history is retained in your browser until you clear it or uninstall the extension.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify users through the extension. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
